During Foreign Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to London, a Khalistani protester tore up India’s flag and halted his vehicle. The demonstration happened at a location where Jaishankar was taking part in a Chatham House-sponsored talk.
Security guards on duty at the location quickly ejected the demonstrator. The guy is seen tearing the Indian flag as he rushes at Jaishankar’s car in a video that has gone viral online, with London police officers in the background. Pro-Khalistan slogans were also chanted by the demonstrators.
The incident happened during Jaishankar’s scheduled March 4–9 official tour to the UK, when he would meet with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and other important figures. Enhancing the India-UK comprehensive strategic partnership is the main goal of his visit, with particular attention paid to commerce, health, education, people-to-people relationships, and defense cooperation.
Speaking on Wednesday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed Kashmir and the actions the Indian government has done, including lifting Article 370, reviving economic development, and conducting elections with a high turnout. He also discussed the opinions of the BRICS nations on the dollar’s role in the global economy.
When questioned about Kashmir’s problems, EAM Jaishankar said, “We have done a decent job fixing most of them. Removing Article 370 was, in my opinion, a first step. The second phase was to restore social fairness, economic activity, and development in Kashmir. Step number three was to hold elections, which were carried out with a very high turnout. The return of the stolen territory in Kashmir that is under unlawful Pakistani control is, I believe, the portion we are waiting for. I promise that Kashmir will be resolved after that is finished.
In addition, EAM Jaishankar discussed a number of other topics. These included the Rupee’s internationalization, the connection with China, the dollar’s place in the global economy, and the BRICS nations’ standing in respect to it.
