8th Pay Commission: Big news for central employees and pensioners, the government may abolish many allowances?

Many media reports have claimed that under the 8th Pay Commission, some old allowances can be abolished or new allowances can be added if needed. At the same time, the 7th Pay Commission had also abolished many allowances.

New Delhi: With the beginning of the new year, the central government approved the 8th Pay Commission for central employees. After which the employees are eagerly waiting for its formation. However, it is expected that the central Modi government may announce the names of a chairman and two members for its formation next month. At the same time, there are chances of presenting the recommendation next year.

Discussions of salary hike intensified after approval from the government

Ever since the central government approved the 8th Pay Commission, discussions have intensified regarding the increase in the salary of employees and pension of pensioners under the fitment factor. However, you must note that the Pay Commission is not bound to increase only salary and pension. But it evaluates all the facilities and allowances given to government employees.

Meanwhile, many media reports have claimed that under the 8th Pay Commission, old and unnecessary allowances can be abolished or new allowances can be added if needed. At the same time, the 7th Pay Commission had also abolished many allowances.

The 7th Pay Commission had abolished these allowances

Let us tell you that the 7th Pay Commission was approved by Manmohan Singh during his tenure, which was implemented on 1 January 2016. During this time, the Pay Commission evaluated a total of 196 allowances, out of which only 95 allowances were approved to be included in the 7th Pay Commission, while 101 allowances were abolished. Let us tell you that some of these allowances were merged with other allowances, while some were completely abolished.

On the other hand, talking about salary hike, the 7th Pay Commission had fixed a fitment factor of 2.57 for the salary hike of central employees. After which the minimum salary increased from Rs 9000 per month to Rs 18,000 per month, while the maximum salary was Rs 2,25,000 per month.

The 8th Pay Commission may be constituted next month.

It is worth noting that the 8th Pay Commission is expected to be constituted next month i.e. in April. Along with this, the central government can also announce the names of the chairman and two other members of the commission. After the formation of the Pay Commission, it will take about a year to prepare the report. During this time the commission will talk to many prominent people including the representatives of the central employees and prepare the recommendation.
