BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood issued a two-word response as her co-star made a swipe at her live on-air.

Hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt brought the latest news to viewers on Thursday (March 6) morning, with updates from the UK and across the world.

During the show, they handed over to Carol, who was presenting the weather forecast from a pod on the London Eye, ahead of the landmark's 25th anniversary on Sunday (March 9).

"She manages to pick some great places to bring you the weather. Don't you, Carol?" Naga began, with Carol replying: "Absolutely, no complaints from me at all, Naga."

She continued: "I'm on the London Eye this morning. Look at the view I've got, we couldn't have asked for a better day weatherwise either."

Carol explained that the weather would be mixed for the rest of the day, starting with sunny spells and a light breeze in England and Wales, while Scotland will face cloudy patches, wind and rain.

Temperatures are also expected to be widely above average as we approach the weekend, with a potential high of 15 to 16 degrees - but sadly, it won't last for long.

"But then into next week, it looks like the temperatures are coming down," Carol concluded.

After detailing the temperatures over the next few days, Naga and Carol agreed that fans should focus on this week's glorious weather, before it goes downhill next week.

"Well, I think we'll just talk about this week then, don't we?" a hopeful Naga noted, with Carol adding: "I think that's a really good plan, yes. For once Naga, we agree on something!"

Naga then cheekily said: "I know! I'll tell you what, I think it's because all the air up there has gone to your head. We'll resume once you come back down to ground."

Stunned by her co-star's comments, an amused Carol bluntly replied: "You rascal," before normal service was resumed back in the Salford studio.

Elsewhere on today's show, Naga and Charlie updated viewers on the latest news from Ukraine after US President Donald Trump paused military aid to Kyiv. The hosts also discussed Australia's cyclone warning, a proposed smacking ban in England, and the upcoming rise in stamp duty.
