This time new grandeur will be seen in the largest garden in Asia with 17 lakh tulip flowers

Preparations are going on fast this year at Asia's largest tulip garden located in Srinagar and probably this garden will be opened later this month. This year 17 lakh tulips of different colors have been installed in this garden. Two types of tulips are being installed for the first time and now 74 types of tulips will be seen in this garden.

According to officials, the color theme will be taken special care of this time as well. This tulip garden is only 25 to 30 days. Because tulip can remain in a particular temperature. For this reason, the department adopts a shift type strategy to keep this garden open for a long time, that is, some beds of tulip are kept by keeping a little gap.

Try to do something new in Tulip Garden

According to Asif Ahmed, Assistant Floriculture Officer, Tulip Garden, this garden is an important tourist attraction. It will be opened to those who see in the coming days. According to Asif, he tries to do something new for the Tulip Garden every year. This year he is bringing a new color theme. He has added two new varieties of tulip this year, causing the total number of varieties to 74.

1.7 million bulbs installed

According to Asif Ahmed, in addition to Tulip, this garden also has Dafodil, Hycinth, Muskari and other spring flowers. This year 1.7 million bulbs have been installed. Asif says that last year, 4.65 lakh people came to the garden in a short period of 25 to 30 days. This year too, we hope that this number will be more than last year.

Extension of tourism season in Kashmir

He said that this year we have 1.7 million flowers and tourists will be able to see them blooming. The expansion of the garden has almost reached its entire capacity. The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden was founded by the then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to expand the tourism season in Jammu and Kashmir in 2007 which was limited to summer and winter earlier.

4.65 lakh tourists came last year

The garden began on a small scale with 50,000 tulip flowers imported from Holland. It gained rapid popularity among tourists and there has been a steady increase in both the number of visitors and the tulips that bloom there every year. Last year, more than 4.65 lakh domestic and foreign tourists visited the garden while in 2023 it came to 3.65 lakh people.
