Raipur: During the budget session of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on Thursday, a significant issue was brought to the forefront by BJP MLA Bhawana Bohra, who voiced her deep concerns regarding the eruption of financial crisis like situation in the government supported Louh Purush Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cooperative Sugar Factory, Pandariya, located in the Kabirdham district.
The factory's financial instability has become a matter of increasing concern, particularly for the sugarcane farmers who rely on its operation.
MLA Bhawana Bohra brought a call attention motion before the assembly, specifically addressing this pressing issue. The core of her motion focused on two critical demands: the immediate disbursement of outstanding payments owed to the sugarcane farmers who supply the factory and the provision of crucial financial support to bolster the struggling sugar factory itself. The motion highlighted the urgent need for action to alleviate the financial burden on both the farmers and the factory.
Responding to the concerns raised by Bohra and the subsequent demands from the BJP, Cooperative Minister Kedar Kashyap addressed the assembly. He openly acknowledged that financial mismanagement had been a persistent problem at the Louh Purush Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Cooperative Sugar Factory since its inception and operational launch back in 2016-2017. He admitted that the issues had accumulated over time, leading to the current crisis.
In direct response to the demands put forth by the BJP members, Minister Kashyap announced a proactive measure. He stated that a dedicated committee from the Cooperative Department would be formed and tasked with conducting a thorough assessment of the sugar factory's current financial condition.
This assessment would involve a detailed examination of its assets, liabilities, and overall economic health. Furthermore, Minister Kashyap assured the House that the state government recognizes the importance of the sugar factory and would provide the necessary support to ensure its smooth and continued operation in the future. The government's commitment aims to stabilize the factory and protect the livelihoods of the associated farmers.
