In a shocking incident in Mumbai, a 17-year-old girl was set on fire by her boyfriend, who allegedly doused her in petrol. The tragic event took place around 11:30 PM on Sunday in the Marol area. The girl has suffered severe burns and is reported to be 60% injured, with her condition being critical.
The accused, identified as Jitendra alias Jitu Tambe, is also hospitalized due to injuries sustained in the incident. According to the information, the two were in a relationship, which may have led to this violent act.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, and further updates regarding the victims' health and the legal proceedings against the accused are awaited.
Mumbai's MIDC Police Station has registered the case against the youth, Jitendra Tambe (28), under the section of BNS 109. Police sources informed that the girl, who is a minor, is already married, but she had come to live with her parents two months back.
The girl was in a relationship with the accused; following a dispute, the boyfriend of the minor girl set her on fire, after which both of them got injured. The girls suffered 60-65% burn injury, and the accused suffered 45%-50% burn injury. According to police, both of them are serious and have been admitted to the hospital where their treatment is underway. Meanwhile, Mumbai Police has recorded the statements of family members and are investigating further.
