Bhopal. Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the big pond of Bhopal is part of our rich heritage. Necessary steps should be taken for its protection by conducting survey. Action should be taken against the illegal construction around the big pond and the structures blocking the water coming from Sehore to the large pond. All responsible officers should be cautious about construction activities happening around Bhopal Tal and take immediate action against them. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav gave these instructions in the review meeting of the Environment Department held at the Chief Minister's residence. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Chief Minister Office Dr. Rajesh Rajaura, Secretary Environment Navneet Mohan Kothari and other officials were present in the meeting.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to keep the rivers and other water structures of the state free from pollution, there is a need to be vigilant towards the industrial units around them. It should be ensured that the discharge of the discharge released by the industrial units is done in the plant itself, this system is also implemented on big hotels. In view of Simhastha-2028, instructions were given to continuously monitor the quality of Kshipra and Kanh River in view of Simhastha-2028 and special activities for public awareness in this regard. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that universities should also be linked to the study of water organisms, water flora status and water quality in water structures. It is necessary to control the mining activities happening around the rivers. Along with this, the responsibility of the Urban Body and Panchayat and Rural Development Department should be determined to fill the pits released after mining. After mining, the left places can be developed as a pond, this will also improve the water level of the surrounding area.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the National Clean Air Program, special efforts should be made to improve the air quality of Indore, Ujjain, Bhopal, Gwalior, Dewas and Sagar as well as Singrauli and Mandideep. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that to improve the air quality, campaigns should be launched with the Environment Department, Agriculture Department with the aim of motivating farmers not to burn them. To reduce dust and pollution in the urban area, special care should be taken in construction activities and the use of readymix concrete should be encouraged. He also stated the need to be cautious towards pollution from old vehicles.

It was informed in the meeting that 10 ponds of the state respectively, Bhoj Vetland Bhopal, Sirpur Wetland of Indore and Yashwant Sagar, Sakhya Sagar of Shivpuri, Jadhav Sagar and Madhav Sagar, Sita Sagar of Datia, Sinda Sagar of Ashoknagar, Sindh Sagar of Ashoknagar, Amrit Sagar of Ratlam and Sagar ponds of Sagar are being made to apply to be held. Madhya Pradesh is in the first five states of the country in terms of the number of Ramsar site. According to Wetland Atlas-2021, the work of physical verification and demarcation of 13 thousand 565 weightlands is in progress in the state.
