The Ministry of External Affairs has condemned the vandalism at a Hindu temple in California, US, and urged US authorities to take strict action against the miscreants.
In an X post, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, "We have seen reports regarding the vandalism at a Hindu temple in Chino Hills, California. We condemn such despicable acts in the strongest terms. We call upon local law enforcement authorities to take stringent action against those responsible and ensure adequate security for places of worship."
Earlier today, in an X post, Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) said, "The Hindu community stands steadfast against hate. In the face of another Mandir desecration, this time in Chino Hills, CA, the Hindu community remains united against hate. Together with the community in Chino Hills and Southern California, we will never let hate take root. Our common humanity and faith will ensure that peace and compassion prevail."
The BAPS temple in Los Angeles issued a statement on its X account addressing the recent incident, stating that their temples represent "peace, harmony, equality, selfless service, and universal Hindu values." They firmly condemned the attack and expressed prayers for peace among all communities.
This incident follows a pattern of similar occurrences at other BAPS temples in recent months. In September, the BAPS temple in Sacramento, California, was defaced with graffiti containing expletives. Before that, another BAPS temple in Melville, New York, was also vandalised.
The statement emphasised that BAPS temples are intended to promote harmony and universal Hindu values, contrasting with the repeated acts of vandalism they have faced at multiple locations.
