Dwarkapuri police station in-charge Rahul Singh Rajput said that the deceased was identified as Mayur Singh Prajapat, a resident of Prajapat Nagar. He was a third-year BSc student in the college. Before taking the extreme step, he posted a note on Instagram, calling himself ‘toxic’ and feeling unworthy.

At the time of the incident, a Women’s Day function was taking place in the college. Mayur attended the event for some time before going upstairs and jumping from the third floor. The exact reason behind his suicide is yet not clear and his family members are also unaware of any distress he might have been facing. Mayur, whose father is a tailor, was the only son of his parents and had a sister.

Instagram story before ending his life

Before taking the drastic step, Mayur posted a message on Instagram: "I'm doing this because no one deserves a toxic person like me. I didn't feel this way before, but now I do. I feel someone like me can never truly belong to anyone. No matter how hard I try, I can never be enough for anyone. I'm neither a good son, nor a good friend, student or person. I'm doing this because I deserve it. I hope that the lives of the people close to me will become better and more peaceful once I remove myself from their presence because I'm just a curse, a worthless burden to everyone. I'm sorry. Goodbye."*  

Friend missed saving him by a few seconds

The entire incident was captured on the CCTV camera installed in the passage of the building. In the footage, Mayur was seen standing there for a long time before jumping. His friends, after seeing his Instagram story, began searching for him within the college. One of his friends spotted him in the passage on the third floor and rushed towards him in an attempt to stop him. However, before he could reach him, Mayur jumped to his death.
