One of the several Telangana train stations undergoing significant change is Malkajgiri Railway Station. With about 60% of the redevelopment now finished, the work is moving quickly.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), which aims to upgrade railway stations across India, is redeveloping 40 stations in Telangana, including Malkajgiri Railway Station. Malkajgiri Railway Station is classified as Suburban Grade-3 (SG-3) and is located in the Hyderabad Division. With an average daily passenger volume of 2,500, an annual revenue of Rs 5.48 crore, and around 27 pairs of trains stopping daily, this station is located in the Secunderabad-Manmad segment. The stations will be able to handle more people each day when they are facelifted. The development project has received approval for around Rs 27.61 crore.
Malkajgiri Railway Station is a center for commuter rail transportation in twin cities, according to South Central Railway. Only three kilometers separate this suburban station from Secunderabad. A large concourse, waiting areas, food vendors, and bathrooms are just a few of the passenger-friendly amenities that have been upgraded as part of the makeover. Additionally, it provides amenities for divyangjan passengers, such as ramps and separate restrooms.
A senior SCR official highlighted the current situation by stating, “The station’s construction started last year and should be finished by next month. The proposed work includes the following: improvements to the station building façade, the installation of an entrance portico, the construction of a 12-meter-wide Foot Over Bridge (FOB) with three lifts and three escalators for passenger convenience, platform surface improvements, the addition of additional cover over platforms, the improvement of existing restrooms, the construction of new toilet blocks with divyangjan facilities, the improvement of the waiting hall, landscaping in the circulating area, improvements to the circulating area for smooth traffic flow, the depiction of art and culture in the station area, and the provision of passenger-friendly signage, train indication boards, coach indication boards, etc.
