Summary
At present, everyone has mobile, TV and radio. If we do not have these things, then it seems that life is nothing. Mobile and TV are a part of people's life. There will hardly be any family in the world that does not use TV and mobile. But you will not believe to know that there is a city in the world where people are banned from using mobile, TV and radio. No one can use these things and if anyone is found using these things, he can be arrested and sent to jail.
The name of this unique city is Green Bank. It is located in Pocahontas County in West Virginia, USA. According to the 2020 census, the population here was 141, but no one uses mobile, TV or radio here.
This city is also famous because it has the world's largest steerable radio telescope, known as the 'Green Bank Telescope'. This telescope is transportable, that is, it can be moved from one place to another.
The Green Bank Telescope is 485 feet long and weighs 7,600 metric tons. The dish on it is so big that an entire football field can fit in it. The area where this telescope is located is the US National Radio Astronomy Observatory, which was established in the year 1958. Here the radio waves coming from space are studied. There are many telescopes in its area, which are capable of detecting everything from gravitational waves to black holes.
It is said about this telescope that it can catch signals even from 13 billion light years away in space. It is very sensitive in terms of radio waves. This is the reason why things like mobile phones, TV, radio, iPad, wireless headphones, remote control toys, cordless phones and microwave ovens are banned in this area, because due to these devices the telescope will have trouble detecting the radio waves of space.
It is said that research on aliens is also done in Green Bank Observatory. This work has been going on since 1960. Here, life on other planets in space is detected through radio waves. It is not yet known whether there is life on any planet other than Earth, but work on this is continuously going on in this observatory.
