After Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja breaks silence on retirement speculations

Rumours about the imminent retirement of Indian cricketers Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja were dismissed by the players. Jadeja publically denied the speculations on Instagram, and Captain Rohit Sharma clarified he has no plans of retiring from the ODI format anytime soon after winning the ICC Champions Trophy.

Even before India lifted the Champions Trophy, rumours about possible ODI retirement announcements by Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja were rife and widespread.

They fire got further wind when Jadeja and Kohli shared a hug after the spinner's 10-over spell ended against New Zealand.

However, Jadeja took to his Instagram story to rubbish the retirement rumours. "No unnecessary rumours. Thanks," the Indian cricketer's story read.

India, on Sunday scripted history after clinching their third Champions Trophy and second ICC Title in less than 12 months.

In the finale, Jadeja was brilliant with the ball and gave India a fine finish with the bat. He conceded just 30 runs in 10 overs and bagged a crucial wicket of Tom Latham as the Men in Blue restricted New Zealand to 251/7 in their 50 overs.

As part of India's chase, captain Rohit Sharma emerged as the top-scorer with 76 and KL Rahul showed great level of calm and grit to score an unbeaten 34, beating New Zealand by 4 wickets.

Rohit Sharma dismisses retirement speculations

India skipper Rohit Sharma, too, had dismissed the speculations about his retirement plans after winning the ICC Champions Trophy, saying that he is not quitting the ODI format anytime soon.

"I am not going to retire from this (ODI) format. Going forward please don't spread rumours," Rohit, 37, said at the post-match press conference.

As expected, the 'Hitman' was quizzed about his future plans in international cricket and he said that things will remain as it is. "No future plans. Jo ho raha hain, woh chalta jayega (Whatever is happening will keep continuing)," Rohit added.
