A musical event featuring Padma Shri Anup Jalota and Grammy Jury member Pt Prodyut Mukherjee was held in Hyderabad to mark International Women’s Day. The event, titled Jhankar, celebrated the spirit of womanhood and featured soulful music that resonated with the audience. Chairman Abhijeeth Bhattacharjee remarked that the event provided the ideal platform to celebrate Women’s Day and recognise the contributions of women.
The two maestros performed a range of musical pieces, with Anup Jalota presenting iconic bhajans, ghazals, and Bollywood numbers such as Aisi Lagi Lagan, Rang de Chunaria, Bolo Ram, Aey Daulat Bhi Ley Lo, and Chandan Sa Badan. His jugalbandi with the tabla maestro added an unexpected element to the evening, much to the audience's delight.
Pt Prodyut Mukherjee had a solo performance where he displayed his skill and captivated the audience. His performance was met with a standing ovation from the crowd.
Anup Jalota expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate Women’s Day in Hyderabad, noting that his renditions of Meera bhajans reflected themes of eternal love and womanhood. Pt Prodyut Mukherjee emphasised that the event was a fitting tribute to women’s empowerment and highlighted the perfect atmosphere of the evening.
