Virat Kohli: The Indian team has created history by defeating New Zealand in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 on Sunday. For the first time, India managed to defeat the Kiwi team in the final of this tournament. The last time the two teams clashed in the final of the Champions Trophy in 2000, in which Team India suffered an embarrassing defeat by 4 wickets. On March 9, the team led by Rohit Sharma succeeded in avenge its defeat. Despite this, former Indian captain Virat Kohli looked disappointed and expressed his grief during the post match ceremony.
After winning the Champions Trophy 2025 finals of India, Virat Kohli asked for former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson that he was very sad to see his good friend losing. They told,
"It is sad to see a very good friend (Kane Williamson) losing, but New Zealand always does the basic things properly and that is what makes them such a competitive team. When Ken Williamson won, I was also part of the losing team. There is only love among us. "
Virat Kohli said about the future of Team India that India has a strong team ready to compete with the world for the next 8 years. He claimed that,
“These are the things you play for-to win the figure, to play under pressure and to take responsibility. During the entire tournament, every player went ahead and took responsibility and performed effectively. We have been part of a wonderful team, the hard work that has been done in practice sessions is a great feeling to see it changing in this victory. When you go to the field, want the team to be in better position, and I think we have a strong team ready to compete with the world for the next 8 years. Shubman has performed brilliantly, Shreyas has played excellent innings, KL has done the match finish and Hardik has been fantastic with the bat. ”
Virat Kohli, while furthering the matter, praised the young players and said that,
"This tournament was amazing. After the tour of Australia we wanted to make a comeback and wanted to win a big tournament, so winning the Champions Trophy is a great feeling. There are many talented young players in our dressing room. They want to take their game to a higher level and we (senior players) are just behaving by helping them. We are sharing our experience and this makes this Indian team so strong. ”
