X outage: Elon Musk-led social media platform X suffered global outage on Monday 10 March 2025. The number of X blackout reports is reported to be more than 40000. The Tesla CEO has claimed that the social media platform that he acquired in 2022 was hit by a massive cyberattack even suggesting that a large coordinated group or even a nation-state could be behind it. X reported three blackouts of nearly one hour each throughout the day. Elon Musk posted on X: There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X. We get attacked every day but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing... Musk said the attack was carried out with a lot of resources. A source in the internet infrastructure industry told Reuters that the platform had been hit by several waves of denial of service (DoS) attacks at around 9.45am. “DoS attacks are attempts to overload a website or network with traffic - aiming to degrade its performance or make it completely inaccessible” says the National Cyber Security Centre.
