A Deputy Commissioner posted in the Department of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday committed suicide by allegedly jumping from the 15th floor of his apartment in Noida Sector-75. According to the police, the family of the deceased commissioner has claimed that he was suffering from cancer and was in depression due to this.
KG Sharma, in-charge of Sector-113 police station, said that Sanjay Singh, working in GST department in Ghaziabad, jumped from the 15th floor of his apartment at the Apex Ethana Society at around 11 am.
KG Sharma said that the family of the deceased officer told the police that he was suffering from cancer and was in depression, due to which he probably committed suicide. The station in -charge said that the body of Sanjay Singh has been sent for post -mortem. He told that Sanjay Singh was originally from Mau district of Uttar Pradesh and he has two sons and two sons in his family.
According to the police, initial investigation has revealed that Sanjay Singh had attempted suicide on Monday morning, but the people around had seen them and informed the security personnel posted there, who understood and sent them back home. Police said that in the afternoon, Singh got a chance and jumped from the 15th floor. He said that the police is investigating the matter keeping in mind various aspects.
Sanjay Singh was the Deputy Commissioner Ghaziabad in GST. He was posted in Ghaziabad for two years. At the same time, he was also looking after the departmental Supreme Court related work. A week ago, a charge of section two was received. There are two sons in the family besides wife. One son works in Gurugram, while the other son is studying from a university in Greater Noida. Police has sent the dead body for post -mortem. The police is investigating the case. Police say that no complaint and suicide note has been received yet.
