The ED took major action on Monday in the NRHM (National Rural Health Mission) scam of Uttar Pradesh. Attached assets worth Rs 89.84 lakhs. This action has been taken by the ED Lucknow Zonal Office under the PMLA. In the assets attached by the ED, 7 bank accounts (Rs 68.62 lakh) are named after SK Pandey and AK Shukla. A house (Rs 10.16 lakh), which is named after Nirupama Pandey. A plot (Rs 11.06 lakh), which is named after SN Gupta. These assets are in Lucknow and Varanasi.
Please tell that the ED started this investigation on the basis of an FIR lodged by CBI in 2012. It is alleged that SK Pandey (SK Distributors), AK Shukla (Sunny & Company), Nirupama Pandey (Jai Ganesh Traders), SN Gupta (Shyam Medical Agency) and others hatched a conspiracy. He met Chief Medical Officers and other government employees of Varanasi, Ghazipur, Jaunpur and Chandauli and took supply orders from NRHM between 2005 and 2011, which were against government rules and procedures.
Accused companies supplied medicines and medical equipment in government hospitals. However, at very high prices. These prices were much higher than the rates fixed by the government, causing a loss of Rs 1.14 crore to the government exchequer. In the same case, the ED ascertained the income of NRHM fund misuse and embezzlement crime and has now attached assets worth Rs 89.84 lakh. Investigation is going on in the case and the ED may soon gather more evidence.
The ED has also taken major action in Chhattisgarh in another case. The agency raided the premises of the former Chief Minister under the money laundering investigation against the son of former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel in the alleged liquor scam case. During this time, he seized 30 lakh rupees along with some documents. According to sources, 14 locations, including Bhupesh's son Chaitanya Baghel's Bhilai campus, Chaitanya Baghel's alleged close associate Laxmi Narayan Bansal and others complexes, were searched under the provisions of PMLA in Durg district.
