7th Pay Commission: The Modi government can give a big gift to government employees before Holi. This week the cabinet can approve the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central employees and pensioners. If this announcement is made, then crores of central employees and pensioners will get benefits. This information was given by the members of the Government Employees Union Forum.

Amendment in DA and DR is likely to be on the agenda of the cabinet. One of the two biannual increases in DA and DR is usually announced in March, while the other is announced in October before Diwali.

DA may increase by 2 percent.

Rupak Sarkar, President of the Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers, said, "The salary hike is expected to be announced in the next cabinet meeting. He said that the increase in DA can be 2 percent. This year there is a possibility of less increase compared to last year. DA was increased by 3 percent in October and 4 percent in March. In October last year, DA increased to 53% of basic pay with a 3% hike. If DA increases by 2%, it will become 55% of basic pay.

The Eighth Pay Commission was approved in January.
The Eighth Pay Commission has been approved by the government in January this year. This will increase the salary of central employees. The commission is expected to be formally constituted soon, with the appointment of a chairman and at least 2 members. Although DA and DR will continue to be revised on a biannual basis, this will probably be the last revision before the commission begins consultations with various stakeholders.
