With heavy rains expected from March 11 to 15, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rain advisory for a number of regions of the nation. Two vigorous cyclonic circulations are predicted to bring heavy rainfall to regions of South India, the eastern and northeastern states, and North India. It is anticipated that the bad weather would provide relief from the soaring heat in Delhi-NCR and other areas.
The IMD reports that the first cyclonic circulation, which began in Iraq, is slowly making its way to India’s mountainous northern provinces, bringing rain and snow to Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir. above the course of the next five days, Bihar, West Bengal, and the northeastern states are expected to see significant rainfall due to the development of a second cyclonic circulation above Bangladesh.
Snowfall and Rain In India’s north
Up to March 15, the IMD predicts worsening weather in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir. In these states, thunderstorms are predicted along with heavy rain and snowfall. A ‘yellow’ signal has been issued for areas of Himachal Pradesh that are experiencing severe snowfall and rain.
On March 12 and 13, there may be thunderstorms and lightning in Punjab and Haryana along with moderate to heavy rains. Rainfall is anticipated in Rajasthan from March 13 to 15.
States in the Northeast and East Will See Heavy Rainfall
The eastern and northeastern provinces of Bangladesh, especially Bihar, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Tripura, could see significant rainfall due to the cyclonic circulation across the country. According to the IMD, these areas will get continuous rain from March 11 to March 15, with Arunachal Pradesh anticipating significant precipitation from March 11 to 13.
Rain is also expected in southern India.
Heavy rainfall is expected in South India as well, so it’s not only the northern and eastern regions that will get it. On March 12, the IMD has predicted heavy rain in four districts in southern Tamil Nadu: Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Thoothukudi. Significant rainfall is also anticipated in a number of other districts, including Virudhunagar, Sivaganga, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, and Ramanathapuram.
Heavy rainfall is predicted for Mahe and Kerala from March 11 to 13. The Tamil Nadu government has responded by saying that if things become worse, schools and institutions would have to shut. Additionally, fisherman in Kanniyakumari have received a warning to stay out of the water.
Conditions of Heatwaves in Gujarat and Rajasthan
Gujarat is going through a scorching wave, as other regions of the nation prepare for rain. From March 11 to 13, the state is under a heatwave warning, according to the IMD, with temperatures predicted to reach 37 to 41 degrees Celsius. From March 10 to 14, the heatwave can last for a long time.
Temperatures in Rajasthan have also been unusually high. A high temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, or 7.5 degrees above average, was recorded by Barmer on March 12. Temperatures at Jalore, Jaisalmer, Chittorgarh, and Jodhpur were also higher than usual. Nonetheless, between March 13 and 15, a weak western disturbance can bring light rain or drizzle to areas of northern and northwest Rajasthan.
