Online applications for admission to Class 1 in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVS) have started from 7 March 2025 and applications will be accepted till 21 March 2025. Parents who want to get their children admitted will have to complete the application within the stipulated time limit.
Every year thousands of parents wait for admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas. Especially those parents who hoped to get their children admitted under the MP quota. But now this quota will not be implemented again. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has made it clear that the government has no such proposal.
Will the MP quota be implemented again?
When the question was raised in the Lok Sabha whether admissions would start again in Kendriya Vidyalayas through the MP quota, the Education Minister clearly said that the government has no such intention. He said that some special admission provisions including the MP quota have been removed as it was in addition to the already approved seats, which was affecting the education system.
What was the MP quota?
Earlier, every MP had the privilege of recommending the admission of 10 children to Kendriya Vidyalaya. Apart from this, the District Magistrate could also get 17 children admitted under the sponsoring authority quota. A total of 788 MPs of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha could get 7880 children admitted every year under the MP quota.
How will admission be done now?
Now admission will be given in Kendriya Vidyalayas only as per the prescribed rules. For this, parents will have to apply online and admission will be given through a lottery system based on merit. If you want to educate your child in Kendriya Vidyalaya, then go to the official website of admission and apply on time.
In 2022, the central government abolished this quota. Now admission will be done only based on merit and prescribed rules. In the absence of an MP quota, now the entire process has become transparent, which will give equal opportunity to everyone. It aims to improve the student-teacher ratio and improve education as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
