Indian captain Rohit Sharma has now explained the reasoning for his on-field ranting at his colleagues in the IND vs. NZ ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final. He believes that he constantly criticizes them in order to highlight what is best for the team. He often yells at his teammates when they make a tactical mistake or misfield during a game, demonstrating his direct and aggressive leadership style.

In a Jio Cinema conversation, Rohit clarified and disclosed that his colleagues are aware of his goals and that they are in the best interests of the squad.

“Even if I say anything to them on the ground, they understand that I am saying it for their benefit and the benefit of the team because of our connection. What pleasure does it provide me to just talk to them like that? On Jio Cinema, Rohit was reported as stating, “I believe it’s just because we want to be the cleanest team, the most clinical team on the field.”

“We discuss that, but playing on the field is just as crucial. It occurs. We sometimes make little errors, and I have to admit that I become upset. They all understand me, however, and they know that if I yell at someone in a certain over, it’s just for that over. I’m going to forget it right away and move on. Indeed, these things do occur, and they may be enjoyable,” he said.

In the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 quarterfinal matchup with the Steve Smith-led team, he demonstrated his assertive leadership abilities by being irritated with Kuldeep Yadav’s poor fielding performance with Virat Kohli. Steve Smith struck the ball deep mid-wicket, where Kuldeep was standing, and he got a single. This occurrence occurred in the 32nd over. Both Rohit and Kohli were angry when Kuldeep, who was positioned at the non-striker’s end, was unable to grasp the ball when Kohli sprinted towards it and tossed it back to him.

Similar circumstances arose during the summit match against New Zealand, when Kuldeep Yadav’s subpar fielding attempts once again left Rohit and Kohli unhappy. This event brought to mind the five-match Test series against Australia, in which Rohit was spotted standing at a ridiculous point and becoming irritated at Yashasvi Jaiswal for his subpar fielding skills.

Despite his gruff exterior, Rohit’s leadership abilities are well regarded. He is often seen communicating openly with his players, which demonstrates his dedication to creating a squad that can perform well at the highest level even under extreme circumstances.
