Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) [India], March 12 (ANI): Former Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YRS) Congress Party or YRSCP MP Vijayasai Reddy on Wednesday appeared before the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) for the probe being carried out in connection with the Kakinada seaport case.
While talking to mediapersons, Reddy said he had told the truth and the facts before the state CID investigating the Kakinada seaport case. Dismissing his role in this case, he claimed the involvement of Vikrant Reddy, son of YRSCP MP YV Subba Reddy.
"There are about 20 to 25 questions. But whatever I have told before the CID is all truth and facts. In Kakinada seaport, everything was dealt by Vikrant Reddy, not me," Reddy said.
When asked about jumping ship, the YRSCP MP said that he has no intention of joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) even though his roots were in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). However, he added that the BJP was the only party that could do justice.
"I have an excellent rapport with all political parties. When I was a student, I worked with ABVP. I have ABVP roots. As of today, I have no intention to join the BJP. As a common citizen, I feel that BJP is the only party which can do justice for this country," Reddy said.
Earlier, Andhra Pradesh CID issued notices to former YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy, ordering him to appear at the Vijayawada CID office on March 12 at 11:00 AM. The notices include Sections 506, 384, 420, 109, 467, 120 (B), and 34 of BNS, along with others.
The case involves allegations of coercion and threats to forcibly take over shares in Kakinada Port and Kakinada SEZ, worth around Rs 3,600 crore.
The complainant, KV Rao, alleged that Vijayasai Reddy, Vikrant Reddy, and Aurobindo Pharma owner Sarath Chandra Reddy were involved in the forced acquisition of his shares.
Over a month ago, Vijayasai Reddy resigned from the Rajya Sabha.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on January 25 accepted the resignation of YSR Congress Party leader V Vijaysai Reddy. Reddy stepped down from his position as a Member of Parliament, citing personal reasons and announcing his retirement from politics.
Reddy, who served as the party's floor leader in the Rajya Sabha, expressed his intention to focus on agriculture moving forward. He personally submitted his resignation to the Chairman, who accepted it with immediate effect. (ANI)
