NCIS Origins is making its way to the UK with fans keen to know where the NCIS prequel was filmed.
Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon) had been somewhat of a mystery during his 18-year stint in NCIS before leaving the CBS police procedural to start a quieter life in Alaska.
And even though CBS viewers and his colleagues alike got to know Gibbs during this period, the veteran agent preferred to keep his cards very close to his chest.

But all will soon be revealed as NCIS Origins is the mothership’s first prequel, focussing on Gibbs’ early career working underneath Special Agent Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid).
Ahead of the upcoming NCIS drama coming out on Paramount+ UK, here’s everything there is to know about where Origins was filmed.
NCIS Origins filming locations
Most of NCIS Origins is filmed at where the 1990s agents were based which was at Camp Pendleton, located in northern San Diego.
Nevertheless, the series was actually filmed at the former Los Angeles Air Force Base, Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, where Camp Pendleton was recreated.
The fort played a crucial role in coastal defences from 1914 to 1974 and while it may no longer be an active military base, a small section is still used by the United States Air Force as housing and an administrative annex.
External scenes were shot around San Pedro, a coastal neighbourhood in Los Angeles which has been a popular filming location choice due to its proximity to naval bases as well as its beach views.
NCIS Origins is far from the only show that has used San Pedro as a backdrop with various other series and films also using it as a key location.
Some of these include Se7en, Dexter, 24, Fight Club, Titanic, The Big Lebowski, Purple Hearts and The Usual Suspects.
NCIS Origins, which stars Dolphin Tale star Austin Stowell as the young Gibbs, originally debuted in the US in October 2024 with the show finally making its way to the UK.
There will be plenty more to come as well following this initial outing with NCIS Origins already given the go ahead for a second season, expected to land in America later this year and in the UK in early 2026.
