QS World University Rankings: Indian institutes shine in the world's top-50 university rankings, 9 made their place

In the QS subject-wise ranking 2024, nine Indian universities and institutions have secured a place in the top 50 in the world. Which includes IIT, ISM Dhanbad, and JNU.

QS World University Rankings: India's academic reputation has reached a new height. In the QS subject-wise ranking 2024, nine universities and institutions of India have made their place in the top 50 in the world. In Mineral and Mining Engineering, ISM Dhanbad, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Mumbai have made their presence felt at the global level by performing strongly. At the same time, IIT Delhi and IIT Mumbai have strengthened their credibility in the field of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

IIT Madras, IIT Mumbai and IIT Kharagpur have maintained their reputation and consistently maintained their presence in the top 50 institutions of the world. Apart from this, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has also made it to the top-50 in the field of development studies, although its ranking has fallen marginally compared to last year.

Big jump by IIT Delhi and Mumbai in engineering and technology

In the field of engineering and technology, IIT Delhi and IIT Mumbai have performed brilliantly and jumped from their previous rank of 45 to 26th and 28th rank. Both these institutes have also entered the top-50 in the Engineering-Electrical and Electronic category.

In business and management studies, IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore maintained their place in the top 50. IIM Ahmedabad slipped from the previous rank of 22 to 27th, while the rank of IIM Bangalore has fallen from 32 to 40.

Strong presence of Indian universities in QS rankings

This year, 79 universities of India made it to the QS rankings a total of 533 times, which is 25.7% more than last year. It has been ranked 454 times in different subjects and 79 times in large faculty categories. According to QS, India is at number five in terms of the number of new institutions joining, after China, America, UK and Korea. On the other hand, India is at number 12 in the world on the basis of total number of entries.
