During a YouTube livestream on Tuesday, two images were shared, showing a message Kim Sae Ron reportedly sent to Kim Soo Hyun, asking for more time to repay the debt.
In the message, Kim Sae Ron confessed that she could not repay the full amount immediately, but promised to pay it off in installments from her future filming projects.
“Hi, it’s Sae Ron. I just received the notice, and they said they will sue me. They mentioned they would give me more time, so I’m working hard to prepare for my return and plan to pay off the debt from each project,” she wrote.
“I truly have no intention of avoiding this, but if you ask me to pay the 700 million won now, I can’t do it.
“It’s not that I don’t want to pay, I just can’t afford it. But does it really need to go as far as a lawsuit?
“I really hope you understand and give me more time,” she pleaded in the alleged message to Kim Soo Hyun.
However, Kim Soo Hyun did not respond to the message. His agency, Gold Medalist, which he owns, is also facing backlash, with many accusing it of exploiting a struggling young woman despite Kim Soo Hyun’s alleged past relationship with her.
On the same day, Kim Sae Ron’s mother stated that she seeks nothing but to restore her daughter’s reputation. Meanwhile, South Korean media has called for Kim Soo Hyun to publicly apologize to Kim Sae Ron’s family and compensate them for emotional distress.

On Monday, an alleged aunt of Kim Sae Ron appeared in an interview on GaroSaero Research YouTube channel, accusing Kim Soo Hyun of causing financial stress that contributed to Kim Sae Ron’s death.
In response, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, vehemently denied the allegations, announcing their intention to take legal action against the spread of false information.
Kim Sae Ron was found deceased at her home in Seoul on Feb. 16 by a friend, with no signs of foul play. Her funeral was held on Feb. 19.
The actress was known for making history as the youngest South Korean artist to attend the Cannes Film Festival for her debut role in the 2009 movie “A Brand New Life.” She was also the youngest actress to be nominated for Best Actress at the prestigious Baeksang Awards in South Korea.
However, her career declined after her drunk driving incident, which caused her to lose film projects and endorsement deals.
Kim Soo Hyun, 37, made his television debut in 2007 and became a major figure in South Korea with successful series such as “Dream High,” “The Moon Embracing the Sun,” “My Love from the Star,” “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” and “Queen of Tears.”
Having started his acting career in his school years, he now stands as one of the top-earning actors in South Korea, consistently commanding the highest average pay per episode, according to local media.
In addition to his acting career, Kim Soo Hyun also earns significant income through endorsement deals with prominent brands.
