Free LPG Cylinder on Holi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday that the state government is providing financial assistance to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for refilling LPG cylinders before Holi and during Ramzan. Just before Holi, on Wednesday, the Chief Minister of the state distributed a subsidy of Rs 1890 crore for refilling gas cylinders to 1.86 crore eligible families of the state under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.

According to a statement, the Chief Minister transferred this amount by pressing a button in the Lok Bhavan auditorium in Lucknow. During this, the ministers in charge of all the districts of the state also participated in the program through video conference. The Chief Minister said that earlier, one had to pay a bribe for a gas connection, whereas now this facility has been made available free of cost to 10 crore families in the country and gas cylinders are also being given free on Holi and Diwali. He said, “This time Holi and Ramzan are together, so all people will get the benefit of this scheme.”

Chief Minister Adityanath said that the Ujjwala scheme was launched in 2016, under which 10 crore families across the country got free LPG connections, a nd about two crore people in Uttar Pradesh have benefited from this scheme. He said, “In the 2021 elections, we had promised that if the government is formed in 2022, free gas cylinders will be given on Holi and Diwali. Since then, this scheme has been running every year so that people can celebrate festivals and festivals well. This time Holi and Ramzan are both together, so everyone will get its benefit.” The Chief Minister stressed that this scheme has been started to save poor mothers from smoke, and no one is being discriminated against in this. Yogi said that the government is working with commitment for the welfare of the poor, farmers and daughters. He informed that so far 22 lakh girls in the state are being given assistance of Rs 25,000 each for studies, while four lakh girls have been married under the Chief Minister’s Mass Marriage Scheme. He said that from April, assistance of Rs 1 lakh will be given for the marriage of girls.
