Dhaka: Mahmudullah, veteran batsman of Bangladesh cricket team, announced his retirement from international cricket on Wednesday. The 39 -year -old Mahmudullah had already retired from Test cricket in 2021 and T20 format in 2024, and now he has retired from ODI cricket.
He informed about his decision through social media posts and thanked his fellow players, coaches, family and fans. Mahmudullah gave Bangladesh cricket many memorable innings and historical win, making him one of the most successful cricketers in the country.
Mahmudullah made his ODI debut in 2007 and initially joined the team as a lower -order all -rounder. But during the 2011 World Cup, he played an important role in winning against England and gradually became a trusted batsman for the middle order.
Mahmudullah wrote in his retirement message:
“Everything does not end in the right way, but you have to say yes and move forward.”
He thanked his parents, in-laws, brother Imdad Ullah (who was his childhood coach and mentor) and most thanks to his wife and children. Referring to his son Raid, he especially wrote that he will miss him in red and green jerseys.
