New Delhi: The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has recently allowed members having Universal Account Number (UAN) linked to Aadhaar to change their personal details such as name and date of birth on their own without any documents.
That is, if a member's UAN has already been verified through Aadhaar, then he/she can update details like name, date of birth, gender, nationality, father-mother's name, marital status and husband-wife's name without uploading any document.
The aim of this facility is to reduce the complaints of the people and to settle the pending requests as soon as possible. It is worth noting that earlier such changes required the verification of the employer. Not only this, it used to take about 20 to 28 days, but with the new facility, members can easily update their information and this process is also faster and easier than before.
What is UAN?
UAN is a 12-digit number that helps in managing provident fund accounts. UAN activation and linking of bank account with Aadhaar is mandatory to avail the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme by EPFO.
How to update EPFO profile?
What to do if your UAN is not linked to Aadhaar?
If your UAN is not linked to Aadhaar, visit the EPFO website and visit the e-KYC portal option under the Online Services section on the homepage. Apart from this, you can also use the e-KYC service available under the EPFO section in the UMANG mobile app to complete the Aadhaar linking process.
