Chittorgarh: A seven-year-old boy accidentally fell into a seven-foot-deep open borewell in Bairwal Colony, Mevada village, under the Kapasan Police Station area on Friday.

To rescue the child, identified as Rahul, the district administration had to dig a six-foot-deep parallel borewell. Upon receiving the information, Kapasan Tehsildar Nasir Beg and Police Station Officer Ratan Singh rushed to the site as panic spread among locals.

"A rescue operation was conducted, requiring parallel digging to safely reach the child. It took about two hours for the rescue team to pull him out unharmed," Beg told IANS.

As per the report, after the rescue, Rahul was taken to Kapasan Hospital for a medical evaluation, where doctors confirmed he was in stable condition.

Rahul’s father, Badrilal Bairwa, recounted the incident, and told the news agency, "He was playing near the borewell when we suddenly heard him screaming. We rushed over and saw him trapped inside. We immediately informed the authorities, and after much effort, he was safely rescued."

Despite strict government directives to seal open borewells to prevent such accidents, many remain abandoned, posing a serious risk.
