Money expert Martin Lewis has revealed his 'painful' health battle this week which has led to him being put on a rest period.

The financial guru has struggled with his voice for a couple of weeks now, admitting on previous shows how his throat was giving him trouble due to a cough and cold. Now has revealed that he has 'pushed too hard' and it has left him with a 'pretty painful' throat, affecting his voice. Martin said he plans to press on with his podcast, The Podcast, today, and then he plans to take a break.

After show on Tuesday, he tweeted that his throat was 'burning' after he had struggled with his voice for the past two episodes.

He said: "Just leaving the studio. So grateful give me the freedom to do such an important subject prime time (wills, power of attorney and inheritance tax if you missed it). My panel of specialists were brilliant. My throat just lasted (it's burning now). Thanks for watching, we couldn't answer every question but hope we covered enough and you found it interesting, enjoyable or helpful."

The next morning, tweeted a health update as he revealed he has been put on 'vocal rest' due to his health.

He said: "Been put on vocal rest today, it's frustrating. I pushed my voice too hard to get through my show last night on top of the continued horrid cold and cough that won't go away. It's pretty painful. Going to try to get through my podcast tomorrow if possible. Then no more for the week"

Martin's followers were quick to support him as they shared that they had been battling the lurgy recently too.
