The trend of cultivating horticultural crops along with traditional crops has increased. The Bihar government is also encouraging the cultivation of fruits, flowers and vegetables. But farmers have to face problems in plucking and storing them. In view of these problems, the Bihar government is giving bumper subsidy on plastic crates, leno bags and fruit trap bags to the farmers doing horticulture in the state under the 'Bagwani Vikas Yojana'. This will make it easier for farmers to harvest horticultural crops as well as transport them to the market and increase their income. According to the Bihar Agriculture Department, farmers can take advantage of this scheme by applying online.
According to the Bihar Agriculture Department, subsidy is being given on plastic crates, leno bags and fruit trap bags under the 'Bagwani Vikas Yojana'. The cost of a plastic crate is Rs 400 per unit, on which the farmer will be given 80 percent subsidy of the cost i.e. maximum Rs 320 per crate. This means, the farmer will get one crate for just Rs 40. At the same time, the price of a leno bag is Rs 20 on which the government is giving 80 percent i.e. Rs 16 subsidy. Apart from this, the fruit trap bag is of Rs 30 and it will get a subsidy of 50% i.e. Rs 15, i.e. it will be available for Rs 15.
Under 'Bagwani Vikas Yojana', online applications for plastic crates, lane bags, fruit trap bags have started from 5 March 2025 and can apply till 15 March. Interested farmers can apply for minimum 10 and maximum 50 pieces of plastic crates, minimum 100 and maximum 1000 pieces of lane bags and minimum 300 and maximum 1000 pieces of fruit trap bags.
