Volkswagen has confirmed that the Tiguan R-line SUV will be launched in India on 14 April 2025. The new generation Volkswagen Tiguan will be the top-space version of the R-line SUV and will come as a fully manufactured unit (CBU) in the country. The new Tiguan R-line is the first of the two new models prepared for launch by VW India. The automaker will then launch the Woakeswagen Golf GTI performance hatchback, which is expected to come a few weeks later.
The new generation Volkswagen Tiguan is available for sale globally since last year. The new car is based on the MQB-Evo platform and is 30 mm long and 4 mm high, while the wheelbase remains at 2,680 mm. Changes have been seen in the design and now it is more curvy than outside.
The new Tiguan has full HD matrix LED headlamps that are connected to the lights running in the width, while the drag is a large bumper opening on the edges to reduce the cofitious to 0.28 CDs. At the rear is a black panel integrating the taillight cluster. The model runs on a 20 -inch alloy wheel. R line will be seen on the front doors. The cabin has a new 10.25 -inch digital instrument console and a 15.1 -inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system that runs on the new MIB4 UI. The new Tiguan will remain as a five -seat car.
The new generation Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line will get a 2.0-liter TSI turbo petrol engine. The engine offers 261 bhp power and 400 Nm peak torque, which is paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic. VW gives a 6-speed manual gearbox with tiguan r-line. However, it is likely to be abandoned for India. The new Volkswagen Tiguan's global variant is equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control Pro. Twin-Volv variable dampors are also available with vehicle dynamics manager (VDM) system. It will be interesting to see if the India-spec model is equipped with these features.
The price of the new Volkswagen Tiguan R-line is expected to be around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). This car will compete with entry-level luxury SUVs like Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, Audi Q3 and others.
