PTC News Desk: Delhi Capitals have named Axar Patel as their new skipper for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Patel replaced Rishabh Pant who earlier joined Lucknow Super Giants in November last year. Notably Pant became the most expensive player in the history of IPL after LSG shelled out a whopping Rs 27 crore in the auction.

Axar Patel took to his social media and expressed gratitude on his appointment as DC captain.

“It is my absolute honour to captain the Delhi Capitals, and I’m deeply grateful to our owners and support staff for placing their faith in me. I’ve grown as a cricketer and a human being during my time here at the Capitals, and I feel ready and confident to lead this side going forward," Axar said on his appointment as DC captain.

The Capitals finished as the runners-up in 2020 when the tournament took place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) after being shifted out of India due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but they failed to make their way through to the playoffs three seasons in a row, in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

In 2025, the Capitals are scheduled to begin their campaign against the Super Giants on Monday, March 24 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam
