There is a yellow ration card, pink/red ration card, blue/orange ration card and white ration card.
Yellow ration card
Talking about the yellow ration card, this ration card is given to people living below the poverty line i.e. BPL. It provides cheap wheat, rice, pulses, sugar and kerosene, this card is given priority to give benefits in government schemes, it also provides free gas connection under the Ujjwala scheme.
Pink/Red Ration Card
Talking about pink/red ration card, it is given to people living above the poverty line. On this, grains are available at normal rates in government shops. At the same time, subsidy is available in some schemes. In this, benefits are available in Ujjwala Yojana and Awas Yojana.
Blue/Orange Ration Card
Blue and orange ration cards are given to those people. Those who are financially weak. But do not come in the list of BPL card. These people are given cheap grains, kerosene and fuel. At the same time, in some states, these ration card holders are also given discounts in electricity and water bills.
White Ration Card
White ration card is issued to financially capable families. People who do not depend on government grain assistance. They get this card. Generally, this card can be used as an identity card and address proof. This card is also used to avail benefits in some government schemes.
