How much do England players earn?

Until recently, every England player was paid £23,000 per international appearance under the terms of the long-standing arrangement with the Rugby Players Association. But that is no longer the case after it was confirmed in October that a deal had been agreed between the RFU and a player-led organisation, Team England Rugby, to negotiate a base salary.

Key players uch as Marcus Smith, George Ford, Tom Curry and Maro Itoje were handed Elite Player Squad contracts worth £160,000 a year. However, only 17 of these enhanced contracts were assigned.

Consequently, some stars on the England roster will take home more money than their squadmates, with the likes of Sam Underhill and Chandler Cunningham-South paid less.

Should England win the Six Nations, however, their earnings are likely to be boosted significantly by win bonuses that are shared collectively throughout the 36-man squad.
