Cybercrime incidents are rising rapidly across the country, leading to an increase in online fraud cases. In the first three quarters of the current financial year (FY25), a staggering 13,384 cases of cyber fraud were reported, resulting in financial losses amounting to Rs 107.21 crore. To combat this growing issue, the government has introduced the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in), where victims can file complaints easily by calling the helpline number 1930 or by submitting an online complaint.
Cybercriminals are using sophisticated methods to deceive people digitally, often making them realize the fraud only after their bank accounts have been drained. The alarming surge in cybercrime cases highlights the need for immediate action. As a response, the government has launched multiple awareness campaigns and established an online platform to assist victims in reporting cyber fraud efficiently.
