A woman died and 7 others were injured after being hit by a speeding car late Wednesday night in Vadodara, Gujarat. The incident, which took place near Amrapali Complex, was captured on CCTV. The car was being driven by a young man named Rakshit Chaurasia. His friend was also sitting next to him at the time of the accident. Police said that the person driving the car and his companion have been arrested. Police are investigating whether they were drunk at that time?
According to the police, Rakshit Chaurasia was driving a speeding car, which hit 3 two-wheelers. The collision was so severe that the airbags of the car opened and the front part of the car was completely damaged. The woman who died in the accident was driving a scooter. The deceased woman has been identified as Hemali Purav Patel (40), who had gone out to buy Holi items. At the same time, 7 others including two girls aged 10 and 12 were injured in the incident. Police said that out of the 7 injured people, the condition of 3 is critical and the others have minor injuries.
According to media reports, Rakshit Chaurasia was driving a Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus black car, bearing the number - GJ06RA687. Police said that Rakshit Chaurasia was accompanied by Pranshu Chauhan, who is the son of the car owner. Rakshit Chaurasia was arrested on the spot after being caught by the locals, while Meet Chauhan was arrested a few hours later. Because Pranshu Chauhan fled from the spot. Police said that according to preliminary investigation, Rakshit Chaurasia is originally from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh and is a law student at MS University in Vadodara, while Pranshu Chauhan is a mass communication student at Parul University in Waghodia.
CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced. The CCTV footage shows that the speed of the car was more than 100 kilometers per hour. Eyewitnesses said that the car suddenly took a sharp turn, due to which it collided with a two-wheeler. In a video of this incident going viral, Chauhan wearing a white T-shirt can be seen coming out of the car and saying, 'Leave me. I don't care, he was driving.' Meanwhile, Chaurasia wearing a black T-shirt remains inside the car and is seen calling his friend.

As the crowd surrounded Chaurasia, he was seen behaving strangely. He started shouting 'one more round, one more round', then shouted a girl's name and suddenly started chanting 'Om Namah Shivaya'. He was also allegedly beaten up by the bystanders. Chaurasia is said to be in an inebriated state.
Meanwhile, Vadodara Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar said, 'The accident took place near Amrapali Shopping Complex in Karelibag. A Volkswagen four-wheeler collided with three two-wheelers. Investigation so far has revealed that 7 people have been injured and a woman has died. The injured have been admitted to private hospitals for treatment. The driver of the car has been arrested. He was arrested after the car owner's son left the crime scene. Police officials and forensic teams have investigated the scene to collect evidence.'
