MI clinch WPL 2025 title: Decoding the tournament in stats

Mumbai Indians (MI) have won their second Women's Premier League (WPL) title, defeating the Delhi Capitals in a nail-biting final.

The 2025 WPL final was held at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, where MI set a target of 150 runs after batting first.

The Capitals lost regular wickets in response as they finished at 141/9.

MI captain Harmanpreet Kaur was at her best in the final.

Her 66 was laced with nine fours and two sixes. She consumed just 44 balls, striking at 150.

As MI won the game, Kaur was named the Player of the Final.

This was Kaur's third fifty of the season as she finished as the fifth-highest run-getter with 302 runs at 33.55.

Earlier this season, Nat Sciver-Brunt became the first player to hammer 400 runs in a WPL edition.

The star player finished the season with 523 runs from 10 matches at 65.37.

Her tally of five fifties in WPL 2025 is the most by any batter in one season.

Meanwhile, RCB's Ellyse Perry (372) was the only other batter with over 310 runs in WPL 2025.


Who took the most wickets?

Mumbai Indians duo of Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews total of 18 wickets apiece this season.

However, it was Kerr who secured the Purple Cap for the season as her economy rate of 7.75 was better than that of Matthews (8.22).

The list of leading wicket-takers also features Jess Jonassen of Delhi Capitals with 13 wickets.

Sciver-Brunt and Georgia Wareham of Royal Challengers Bengaluru were closely behind with 12 wickets each.


Who scored the most fifties?

Sciver-Brunt's tally of five fifties in WPL 2025 is the most by any batter in one season.

Meanwhile, Georgia Voll (99* vs UPW) recorded the highest individual score in WPL 2025.

While Perry (93) clocked the best batting average, UPW's Chinelle Henry (196.38) had the best strike rate among batters with at least 100 runs.

GG's Ashleigh Gardner and DC's Shafali Verma recorded the joint-most sixes (18 each).

As mentioned, Sciver-Brunt took 12 wickets wickets with the ball this season as her economy of 7.94 is quite impressive.

In the high-voltage final, Sciver-Brunt became the first all-rounder to accomplish the double of 300 runs and 10 wickets in a WPL season twice.

Last year, she recorded 332 runs and 10 wickets. Her teammate Matthews (18 wickets and 307 runs in 2025) is the only other player with this double.

Kerr's 5/38 vs UPW was the only five-wicket haul this year.

DC's Marizanne Kapp was the only bowler to clock a sub-six economy rate (5.72).

DC's Sarah Bryce recorded the most dismissals by a wicket-keeper (10). MI's Yastika Bhatia trails her with nine scalps.

Perry, DC's Meg Lanning, DC's Jemimah Rodrigues, MI's Shabnim Ismail, and Kerr took the joint-most catches (7 each).


A look at some team records

UPW's 225/5 vs RCB was the highest team score this year. RCB (213/10 vs UPW) and MI (213/4 vs GG) are next on the list.

GG recorded the biggest win in terms of runs, having beaten UPW by 81 runs.

DC batters Shafali and Jonassen scripted the highest partnership, adding 146* runs for the second wicket vs RCB.
