A passenger travelling to Abu Dhabi on a reputed airlines reported food poisoning after receiving a smelly food during his journey. An Etihad Airways passenger identified as Cameron Callaghan suffered through his six-hour flight from Manchester to Abu Dhabi after consuming a questionable inflight meal.
The British man was heading for a Thailand vacation when he puked 30 times, experienced diarrhea and stomach pain during his air travel after eating a tomato, cheesy chicken pasta served onboard, which he described did "smell a bit weird".
Callaghan, who was en route to Bangkok via UAE, dismissed the odd smell of the meal and consumed it because he was hungry. Just minutes after eating, his health condition deteriorated. He puked, rushed the loo repeatedly, and complained of stomach pain to the cabin crew.
"I had diarrhea twice, and 10 minutes after that, I was just constantly throwing up for the duration of the flight," he recalled. "I threw up probably about 30 times", he added.
He blamed the flight food for his condition and said, “It did smell a bit weird but all plane food kind of does".
His health deteriorated so badly that he had to be wheeled off the plane upon landing. Throughout the flight, a toilet was kept vacant for him due to his dire condition. He described feeling weak, unable to stand, and spending most of the journey curled up in the fetal position.
Reporting the incident, the New York Post stated a lavatory was kept vacant throughout the flight duration to facilitate Callaghan. The passenger expressed embarrassment as fellow passengers witnessed his distress.
A spokesperson of Etihad Airways spoke to the media outlet and denied that their meal was responsible for his illness, stating that it was unlikely the cause.
