The Indian music industry is growing at a rapid pace. It is evident that without music the essence of any moment would not be as impactful as it could be. Iconic singers like Mohammed Rafi Manna Dey Asha Bhosle Lata Mangeshkar and many more have lent their melodious voices to numerous songs. As time has evolved new musicians have also made their mark in the industry. Speaking of musicians do you know who the highest-paid singer in India is? If not keep scrolling to find out.
Back in the 70s 80s and 90s singers like Mohammed Rafi and Manna Dey charged Rs 300 per song. However as time progressed artists fees have also changed. Today the biggest singers in India charge lakhs for each song. Yes you read that right! And the highest-paid singer isn’t even a full-time playback singer.
India’s highest-paid singer is AR Rahman. As per multiple media reports the singer charges a whopping Rs 3 crore for each song he lends his voice to. This is 12-15 times higher than the fee charged by any other singer in India. Sources suggest that Rahman sets this premium rate to deter composers from approaching him.
Most of the time AR Rahman sings his own compositions. However when someone requests him to lend his voice to another composer’s work the producer must pay this premium fee.
Apart from AR Rahman Shreya Ghoshal is the highest-paid full-time playback singer in India. Reports claim that the 40-year-old charges Rs 25 lakh per song. In third place is Sunidhi Chauhan who reportedly charges Rs 18-20 lakh per song the same as Arijit Singh.
A.R. Rahmans net worth is estimated to be around Rs 1700-Rs 2000 crore.
