New Delhi: Delhi Capitals (DC) fast bowler Mohit Sharma has shared his perspective on the recent guidelines from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding players families traveling with them on tours adopting a neutral approach to the issue. According to the new regulations families including spouses and children can join players only after the first two weeks of tours that last longer than 45 days with a maximum duration of 14 days. For shorter tours families are permitted for up to one week. These measures were implemented following Indias 3-1 series loss to Australia in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli has vocally backed the idea of families traveling with players emphasizing their importance in fostering a balanced and stable environment. In contrast Mohit Sharma adopted a more practical perspective on the matter. Speaking to ANI Sharma said Some things are beyond our control. While we all have personal opinions its essential to focus on what we can manage. How can the presence of families be a bad thing? If something isnt in our hands its best to leave it as it is. Rather than commenting on such matters we should concentrate on what we can control. His comments indicate a balanced approach recognizing the ongoing discussion while highlighting the need to comply with the regulations established by the cricket board. On the other hand Kohli has been outspoken about the significance of mental health for cricketers underlining that the presence of family offers vital emotional support. He emphasized that after a challenging match no player would prefer to sit alone and sulk stressing the essential role of family as a source of comfort. Although views on the issue differ Sharmas response showcases a professional mindset concentrating on aspects players can influence rather than dwelling on policy matters. Mohit Sharma the experienced Indian pacer entered the 2025 IPL auction as an uncapped player due to his absence from international cricket for more than five years. He was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2.2 crores. After a successful comeback season in 2023 with Gujarat Titans (GT) where he claimed 27 wickets in 14 matches Sharma has now accumulated 132 wickets in 112 IPL games. On Saturday Kohli said at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 It is very difficult to explain to people how grounding it is to just come back to your family every time you have something intense which happens on the outside as quoted from ESPNcricinfo. I do not think people have an understanding of what value it brings to a large extent. And I feel quite disappointed about that because it is like people who have no control over what is going on are kind of brought into conversations and put out at the forefront that oh maybe they need to be kept away he added. I want to be able to be normal. And then you can really treat your game as something that is a responsibility. You finish that responsibility and you come back to life he said. Like there could be different situations happening in your life all the time. And that allows you to be absolutely normal. Not in a vague sense but in a very real way that you finish your commitment your responsibility and then you come back to your house you are with family and theres absolutely normalcy in your house and normal family life goes on. So for me that is absolutely a day of immense pleasure. And I would not miss any opportunities to go out and spend time with my family whenever I can he concluded.
