Delhi Metro has launched a unique initiative to encourage passengers to embrace a healthier lifestyle. A special tag installed on the stairs of select Metro stations will now track the calories burned with each step a passenger takes.
This initiative is particularly beneficial for regular commuters who are looking for easy ways to incorporate fitness into their daily routine.
This innovative initiative involves the installation of special floor patterns at participating Metro stations. These patterns are designed to calculate and display the number of calories burned with each step a commuter takes on the stairs. For instance, climbing one step will burn 0.21 kilocalories, two steps will burn 0.43 kilocalories, three steps will burn 0.64 kilocalories, and so on. This means that climbing a flight of 10 stairs will help you burn a total of 2.14 kilocalories.
Acting as a fitness tracker, the calorie counter tag monitors the passenger’s physical activity based on the number of steps taken. This initiative not only helps passengers reach their destination but also encourages them to stay active throughout their journey.
This initiative has been rolled out at some of the busiest stations in the Delhi Metro network, including Supreme Court, Rajiv Chowk, Barakhambha Road, Patel Chowk, and Central Secretariat.
Delhi Metro officials have stated that the primary objective of this initiative is to motivate people to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines and become more health-conscious. This initiative is a part of Delhi Metro’s commitment to promoting smart and healthy living.
The new system aims to make the daily commute not only more interesting but also beneficial for the well-being of the passengers. Delhi Metro plans to implement this system at other stations across the networkshortlye.
