The 90s were a time of many rumours in Bollywood. The film industry was full of sensational headlines gossip and feuds. One of the most popular was the alleged love triangle involving Manisha Koirala model Rajiv Mulchandani and Aishwarya Rai. The controversy began when Manisha accused her boyfriend Rajiv of having an affair with Aishwarya after receiving an alleged love letter.
Not taking the cheating allegations quietly Aishwarya publicly denounced the report and admitted she was shocked and disappointed by it. At the time Manisha was rumoured to be dating Rajiv who was linked with Aishwarya. Reports said that Manisha had allegedly found love letters written by Rajiv to Aishwarya fuelling speculations of an affair between them.
However in an old interview Aishwarya revealed how she initially intended to praise Manishas acting in the 1995 film Bombay but when Manisha dragged her into the matter a different controversy started. She also said that she was very affected by the rumours. Aishwarya said I had just watched Bombay and thought Manisha was brilliant. I was even planning to send her a bouquet to congratulate her. On April 1st Rajeev happened to call me and I excitedly told him how much I admired Manisha’s performance. That’s when he laughed and asked if I had been reading the papers. He informed me that Manisha had claimed to have found love letters from him to me. I couldn’t believe it! It was a very rude shock.
The star questioned the timing of the allegations and said If this was true why did this information not come out in July 1994? If this was the reason for her separation from Rajiv why did it take nine months to come out? She further said- Manisha affected me a lot in the beginning. I cried like crazy. I was very sad with whatever was happening around me.
Aishwarya Rai further revealed This Manisha episode really affected me a lot in the beginning. I cried like crazy. I was really hurt miserably by all that was happening around me.
