There will now be no main priest in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple of Ayodhya. Actually, after the death of Mahant Satyendra Das, this post has become vacant. Giving information about this, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Pilgrimage Area Secretary Champat Rai said that now there will be an exaggeration in calling a priest as the chief priest because Mahant Satyendra Das is not a scholar. There is no priest of his age and respect at this time.

Please tell that Satyendra Das, the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple, died in February this year. Since then this post is vacant. He breathed his last at the Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). His body samadhi was given to his body in the Saryu river of Ayodhya.

What did Champat Rai say?

Champat Rai said that we had talked to Satyendra Das in this regard six months ago. Now there will be no main priest. He told that there is no person as the age and respect of Satyendra Das. No person has been the Mahant of Hanumangarhi for so long. He said that he was serving since 1993. He used to take 100 rupees monthly salary. Champat Rai said that now everyone in the temple is a new and young priest. No one is as scholar as him. Now it will be an exaggeration to address someone as the main priest.

Who was Acharya Satyendra Das?

Satyendra Das was the main priest of Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi Temple even before the demolition of a Hindu Mahant Babri Masjid. He was one of the first Hindu priests to condemn the petition seeking a ban on the International Krishna Bhagavanamrit Sangh (ISKCON) in Bangladesh. Acharya Satyendra Das was considered one of the most accessible saints of Ayodhya and often media persons contacted him for information on the developments to Ayodhya and Ram temple.
