Mira-Bhayandar: The crime detection unit attached to the Naigaon police station have detained two teenagers (girl aged 16 and boy aged 17 years) for their alleged involvement in murdering a 75-year-old man whose body was found in a decomposed state near a dargah in Uttan on 22, February.
According to the police, a missing person report of Kishore Brijmohan Mishra (75) was registered by his son on 15, February. While examining the closed-circuit tele-vision (CCTV) cameras, police constable-Devidas Patil spotted the septuagenarian with a minor girl outside the Bhayandar railway station.
On the virtue of inputs provided by informers, the minor girl and her 17-year-old friend were taken into custody. Meanwhile the body found in Uttan matched the description of the missing person. After verifications the body was confirmed to be of Kishore Mishra who sold pan and cigarettes from a makeshift stall in Naigaon.
The girl who had left her home had been employed by Mishra to assist him at his stall. On 15, February, the septuagenarian asked her to accompany him to Bhayandar for some work. After reaching Bhayandar, they boarded an auto-rickshaw. However, the man started misbehaving with the girl by touching her in an inappropriate manner in the moving auto-rickshaw.
The terrified girl immediately informed her male friend and shared her location. As the septuagenarian was apparently looking for a hotel to check in the Dongri area of Uttan, the boy who had already reached the location smashed his head on a stone following which they killed him and dumped his body in the bushes near the dargah.
It has been alleged that the crime was an act of revenge as the man not only sexually assaulted the girl but also denied her salary. The minors were detained and produced before the Child Welfare Committee which sent them to correction homes. Further investigations were underway.
