Sequel to Baahubali: The Beginning it was made on an enormous budget of Rs 250 crore becoming one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema. The high-octane action drama grossed Rs 1810 crore leading to unprecedented box office success.
2. Kalki 2898 AD (2024)
Directed by Nag Ashwin Kalki 2898 AD features a star-studded cast including Prabhas Deepika Padukone Amitabh Bachchan Kamal Hassan Disha Patani and more. Made in a staggering budget of Rs 600 crore this sci-fi film broke all records after grossing Rs 1100 crore at the global box office.
3. Pushpa 2: The Rule (2024)
Helmed by Sukumar Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Pushpa 2 was produced on an enormous budget of Rs 500 crore. The sequel to the 2021 hit Pushpa: The Rise the 200-minute film grossed over Rs 1500 crore worldwide becoming the highest-grossing film of 2024. Moreover it registered the highest opening day for an Indian film by collecting Rs 270 crore globally.
4. Thugs of Hindostan (2018)
Thugs of Hindostan starring superstars like Aamir Khan Amitabh Bachchan Katrina Kaif was one of the highly anticipated films of 2018. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya the movie was made on a hefty budget of Rs 300 crore. Despite its high cost and star-studded cast the film failed to perform well at the box office grossing Rs 335 crore worldwide. Although it managed to recover its production cost but it still received disappointing reviews from audiences and critics alike.
5. Devara: Part 1 (2024)
Directed by Koratala Siva this action drama starred NT Rama Rao Jr Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor. Made on a budget of Rs 300 crore the film managed to gross Rs 400 crore earning a profit of Rs 100 crore.
6. Saaho (2019)
Saaho (2019) starring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor was one of the most expensive Indian films. Made in a hefty budget of Rs 350 crore the film grossed Rs 433 crore worldwide. Despite receiving mixed reviews the film managed to recover its production cost.
7. Padmaavat (2018)
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali Padmaavat is a period drama starring Deepika Padukone Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in lead roles. Made in a budget of Rs 215 crore the film grossed Rs 585 crore worldwide earning a massive success both commercially as well as critically.
