One simple, and relatively inexpensive, way to give your bedroom a bit of a lift is with new bedding. While, traditionally, luxurious sets were very costly and reserved for high-end hotels, these days it’s possible to pick up some fantastic sets for affordable prices.

One of the most popular retailers shoppers turn to is Dunelm, with its Dorma Crisp & Fresh 400 Thread Count winning hundreds of fans. Among the features praised to date are the zip fastening, rather than traditional buttons, plus some have said they found that it doesn’t need ironing.

The product comes in a very wide range of sizes, ranging from single right up to emperor, with the price varying according to the one you require. It for the biggest.

The 400 thread count duvet is made from luxurious Egyptian cotton for a “perfect display of bedding elegance”. It also comes in a very wide range of colours to suit your style, including coffee, lilac, sage green, gun metal grey, cream, white and rose pink.

In a cheaper price range, Debenhams stocks the for £30.99, though it’s currently down to £26.80. has a few more luxurious options like the which is very stylish, though it comes at a premium - £85 to £140.

The Dunelm cover has One impressed reviewer said: “Gorgeous. Crisp and fresh. Light and smooth. Washed very well and dried in (the) dryer. Pressed easily. Looks lovely. I searched for a duvet cover, with a zipper and this doesn't disappoint - I hate the fiddly buttons on a duvet cover and I will never go back. Worth every penny.”

Another continued: “Very pleased with this duvet cover. Very comfortable, washes well and I love the discreet zip. Would definitely not hesitate to buy this again. Dorma products are high quality.”

A third added: “Lovely soft silky cotton- needs no ironing. Would certainly buy again. Good value for money. Always buy pure cotton bed linen from Dunelm and never been disappointed.”

Another went on: “Lovely high quality bedding. Super cosy and comfy, I washed it and put it straight back on as I didn't want to use another. Love it.”

Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback, there have been a couple of flaws to point out. One said: “I bought this because of the easy zipper fastener, as I was sick of faffing with buttons or ties. I just wish the material was a bit thicker. It’s quite thin, so I can see it wearing threadbare after a year of washes.”

Another wasn’t too keen on the colour that showed up, though they didn’t elaborate on which one they chose: “Soft and nice sheets. However, (I'm) not happy with (the) colour, too pale.”
