Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively's legal battle continues, with Justin Baldoni's lawyer indicating that a settlement before the 2026 trial is unlikely and the courtroom drama is far from over.

Blake Lively obtained a confidentiality order, whereas Baldoni insists on proving his innocence in court. Both sides remain firm, and tensions rise as the case progresses, as per reports.

Could this case be settled before trial?

Bryan Freedman, the attorney for Jane the Virgin alumnus Justin Baldoni and his It Ends With Us co-star Blake Lively, explained why he believes the case is unlikely to be settled before it goes to trial in May 2026.

During the March 12 episode of The Town podcast, Freedman stated of his client, "This has destroyed Justin." "This is a very serious matter, and the only way you can really get your life back in this day and age is to prove your innocence,” as quoted in a report by E! News.

Freedman disagreed with host Matt Belloni's assertion that a settlement for both parties would be encouraged by the high level of public interest in the issue and "damage to both sides."

The lawyer retorted, "You keep calling it a circus, and I understand." "But when you have an experience like this, the truth is that this is not a circus," as per a report by E! News.

Why did Blake Lively request a protective order?

Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds filed for a protective order earlier this month to keep private information out of the public eye as Baldoni and Lively continue their legal battle, which includes lawsuits accusing both parties of a smear campaign.

According to legal documents seen by E! News at the time, a judge later approved a modified version of the order with a partial "attorney's eyes only," the highest level of confidentiality in legal proceedings.

Lively's legal team applauded the decision, claiming it will "ensure the free flow of discovery material," against Freedman's contention that the request was "overboard and unnecessary."

"Ms. Lively will proceed with the discovery process to acquire even more of the evidence that will prove her claims in courtnow that this order is in place," they said in a statement to E! News.
