Veteran actress Rekha who is 70 year old is known for her versatility and was once among the highest-paid actresses in Indian cinema. With several hits to her name she was in high demand. However actor Ranjeet recently shared an incident where he had to ask Rekha to return her signing amount due to her tantrums. In an interview with Vickey Lalwani Ranjeet recalled a time when he was frustrated with the kind of roles he was being offered and decided to produce his own films. He explained “I didn’t take up films for almost a decade because I was unhappy with the roles I was getting. When I started making films I made sure to pay actors professionally no matter how close I was to them. Many hesitated to take money from me but I insisted. The same happened with Rekha. I told her ‘You’re my friend but if I’m signing you for my film I want you to quote your price and I will pay you.’ She agreed and gave me a figure. Later I found out that another filmmaker had signed her for much less - about Rs 5 lakh less than what she had asked from me.”
