The Board of Control for Cricket in India is the most powerful and rich cricket board in the world. It is now considering changing the rules made in relation to the families of the players. The BCCI is going to change its policies with the families of the players on foreign tours. The new rule will be that if the players want to take their family along on big tours, then they will have to get permission from the BCCI. Recently, Indian cricket team veteran and former captain Virat Kohli raised his voice against this rule, after which there are reports of this change from BCCI sources.
The BCCI had implemented strict travel policy for all the players after the Australia Test series some time ago, under which the presence of the family on foreign tours was limited. According to the new rule, the players could take their family for only two weeks, but prominent players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma expressed dissatisfaction with this rule. Virat Kohli recently said that going to the family during big matches and difficult times reduces the mental stress of the players. His statement was supported by many veterans.
Now the BCCI seems to be expressing the possibility of giving concession in this rule. Especially when Team India has to go on a long tour of England after IPL, which will start from June 20 and will run till August 4. Five Test matches will be played during this tour and it can be a challenge for the players to stay away from their family for so long.
